Dr. Rebecca Steele's Approach to Therapy
Dr. Steele's approach is supportive and collaborative, grounded in proven methods tailored to your unique needs. You’ll receive care from a psychologist who’s not only licensed and experienced, but also credentialed as a National Register Health Service Psychologist. That means you're in qualified hands, with someone who truly cares about your progress and well-being.
Whether you're seeking psychotherapy, cognitive screenings or assessments, cognitive rehabilitation therapy, or a pre-surgical psychological evaluation, Dr. Steele meets you where you are. Her work is rooted in the belief that understanding how your brain functions can be transformative. When you know what's happening beneath the surface, healing and growth become possible.
Why Dr. Rebecca Steele Became a Psychologist
What drew Dr. Steele to neuropsychology was the challenge people face when struggling with impairments they can't explain. When someone faces memory problems, attention difficulties, or cognitive changes, pinpointing the source on their own can feel overwhelming. She recognized that neuropsychological assessments can provide immediate and concrete insight that changes the course of treatment and people's lives, and she turned them into her life's work. She spent four years leading research on executive functioning and working memory.
During her training at Northwell Health’s Staten Island University Hospital, she put that understanding into practice. She worked with complex cases ranging from seizures and stroke to traumatic brain injury and post-COVID-19 cognitive changes. She learned to build rapport quickly and recognize both challenges and strengths in every assessment.
Dr. Steele has a personal stake in this work and strives to 'be a light' to those in need. She understands the power of having someone help you see clearly, to identify what's really happening beneath the surface. That's what she brings to clients at her Garden City, Long Island office and virtually throughout New York and Georgia.
Restoring lives one person at a time.
